About Connie

I was raised in Wisner, Nebraska, and lived most my my adult life in Lincoln, NE. I am a member of St. Mark's on the Campus Episcopal Church here in Lincoln.

My activities as a liturgical vestments designer are winding down, but I still love to create computer generated virtual quilts, work as a quilt block designer and maker; and am perfecting skills as a writer, composer, musician, and poet. I have held concerts of music that I composed with a CD of each concert and my liturgical music has been a part of the services in the past at St. Mark's. I have had two of my poems published Nationally, but not with a well-known venue.

My education includes a Women's Leadership Ministry degree from Berea University, 1985; B.A.'s in both Anthropology and Religion from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, 1996; a nearly completed B.F.A. in Music Organ and Music Composition at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln; courses completed with Healing Touch International; Spiritual Direction on the graduate level through Creighton University; two completed units of Clinical Pastoral Education, 2001-3, with Internship sites at St. Elizabeth Regional Medical Center, and Madonna Rehabilitation Hospital, both here in Lincoln; and a four-year completed Education for Ministry Program through Sewanee University of the South, 2003, through St. Mark's Episcopal Church here in Lincoln.

Memberships of organizations I have taken part in include Toastmaster's International; The American Guild of Organists; Sigma Alpha Iota, a women's honorary fraternity; Golden Key National Honor Society; Healing Touch International; Spiritual Director's International and The Order of St. Luke the Physician. I have been on Episcopal Cursillo Nebraska and Lutheran Via De Cristo teams, and attend Ad Lib Retreats every year in Colorado Spring.

My artwork can be seen on my website, www.conniesplace.com, the Artist's Registry on the Episcopal Church Visual Arts website, and my liturgical vestments have been commissioned from all over the United States. My Lenten altar cloth set was featured at the Wisconsin Quilt and Fiber Arts Museum from January to May 2010. Unless a quilt is for a commission, I usually give my creations away to those who have had an impact on my life, or other people's lives.
